Editorial Standards
Last updated: May 27, 2026
1. Our Mission
AppiReview produces honest, in-depth reviews of mobile applications and games for ordinary users. Every review on the Site is editorially produced — we do not publish reviews supplied by developers, PR firms, or other third parties.
2. How We Choose What to Review
Our editorial team chooses titles based on:
- Popularity signals (store rankings, search demand, social mentions)
- Category coverage gaps in our existing catalog
- Reader requests sent to [email protected]
- Notable updates or releases that change a previously reviewed title
We do not accept payment in exchange for a review or for a more favorable review.
3. Review Methodology
Every review covers the following dimensions:
- Functionality — does the app deliver on what it claims?
- Design and user experience — clarity, ease of use, accessibility
- Performance — speed, stability, resource use, battery impact
- Monetization model — paid up-front, freemium, ads, subscription
- Privacy and permissions — what the app requests and how reasonable that is
Each review includes a balanced pros / cons list and a FAQ for questions readers commonly ask.
4. Rating Scale
Star ratings are an editorial judgment, not an average of user reviews from the App Store or Google Play. We use a 5-star scale:
- 5 stars — best-in-class for its category
- 4 stars — recommended; meaningfully better than alternatives
- 3 stars — competent; consider only if no better option exists
- 2 stars — significant problems; avoid for most use cases
- 1 star — not recommended
5. Fact-Checking & Updates
App Store and Google Play metadata changes frequently. We refresh price, size, version, and rating information on a regular cadence. When a major version update materially changes our review (new core features, removal of features, monetization changes), the review itself is revisited and the "Last updated" date on the review page is refreshed.
6. Corrections Policy
If you find a factual error in any review, please report it via the report page or by emailing [email protected]. We aim to acknowledge corrections within 48 hours and to publish material corrections directly on the affected review page.
7. Conflict of Interest
Editorial team members do not hold significant financial interests in the developers or publishers of apps they review, and we do not accept gifts, paid hosting, or comparable consideration in exchange for editorial coverage. We do not offer paid placement on any list, ranking, or "best of" feature.
8. Advertising vs. Editorial
The Site is monetized in part through programmatic display advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertisements are clearly labeled (for example, with "Ad" or "Sponsored") and are selected by the ad network, not by our editorial team. We do not currently publish native advertising, sponsored content, or paid in-article placements.
For details about advertising data practices, see our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
